Inspired by the lives of his great-great-grandparents Ollie Thomas and Ruby Dyson, playwright Steven A. Butler Jr. brings their legacies to life in The Very Last Days of the First Colored Circus. Set in 1927 in La Plata, Maryland, The Very Last Days of the First Colored Circus tells the stories of African American performers fighting for their craft and dignity in a white-owned circus. The sound designed focused on the music of that time with accents of circus soundscape.
