Queens Girl

About Queens Girl

If you’ve seen QUEENS GIRL IN AFRICA (and WORLD), you’ve heard both the soundtrack AND soundscapes in Jackie’s world—from the NYC subway all the way to Nigerian markets. BUT DID YOU KNOW: Queens Girl sound designer David Lamont Wilson went above and beyond to make QUEENS GIRL IN AFRICA (and QUEENS GIRL IN THE WORLD) as realistic and accurate as possible. As the original sound designer for the premiere of these works, he traveled the path that Jaqueline Marie Butler and her family took while journeying to Ibadan, Nigeria in the 1960s. Details like this help transport us further into the world of the play, and shows how much detail and effort goes into small things we may not notice on stage. Thanks for the opportunity to share, WYPR!
